2.) Once you have completed that, on the next page in your sketchbook, create a page of notes on Surrealism. Be sure to include notable artists of the movement, a small drawing of a famous surrealist painting, and basic information on the movement such as:
-When did it start?
-What makes it unique- what do they look like?
-What are common themes or inspiration?
Include any other pertinent information you find.
Use the internet and Scholastic Magazine as references.
3.) Once you have completed your research, brainstorm for your own surrealist artwork. Create three small thumbnails for some ideas.
You must include three of the following in your final piece:
*landscape
*an egg
*a clock
*two things combined- morphed into each other
*an apple
*something broken
*something with an interesting texture
*a silhouette
*something with space
*something displaced (example: something belonging in the ocean on land.. )
*train
4.) Once your thumbnails are complete, we will chat about the strongest one. Once that is decided, lightly plan out your artwork on a 12x18 sheet of drawing paper. Use a 6h Pencil to lightly sketch your design.
You will use a combination of watercolor, prismacolored pencils, graphite, and/or acrylic paint.
